RemoteOne Privacy Policy
Effective 29 September 2026 · Sagar Singh (developer “Myx”)
At a glance
- RemoteOne talks directly to devices on your local network. Remote control activity is never sent to me.
- Paired devices and settings are stored only on your phone.
- The internet is used only to show Google AdMob ads.
- There is no account and no analytics.
1. Who is responsible
RemoteOne is a universal remote app for smart TVs, projectors and streaming devices such as Roku, Samsung, LG webOS, Android TV, Chromecast and DLNA devices. It is developed and published by Sagar Singh, an individual developer based in India, under the developer name “Myx”. RemoteOne is not published by a company.
In this policy, “I”, “me” and “my” mean Sagar Singh. I decide how the information described here is used and I am responsible for it. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 I am the “data fiduciary”, and under the GDPR I am the “data controller”. I am also the grievance contact for RemoteOne.
2. Local network access
RemoteOne needs local network access to find devices (using SSDP/UPnP and mDNS) and to send them remote control commands. This traffic stays on your Wi-Fi network. It does not go through my servers, and I do not collect what you watch or which buttons you press.
3. Information stored on your device
- names, IP addresses and types of the devices you connect to;
- pairing tokens and credentials for those devices, kept in encrypted storage (Android Keystore-backed encryption and the iOS Keychain);
- settings such as theme, haptic feedback and your last-used device.
4. Advertising
RemoteOne shows ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate (country or region) location, device information and ad interaction data to show and measure ads. You can opt out of personalised ads in your device settings: on Android in Settings → Google → Ads, and on iOS in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
5. What I do not collect
- No account, name, email address or contacts.
- No analytics about how you use the remote.
- No physical location tracking.
6. Service providers
- Google AdMob: advertising.
- Google: Google Play distribution.
- Apple: App Store distribution.
7. How long data is kept and how to delete it
Device and pairing data stays on your phone until you remove a device in the app, clear the app’s storage or uninstall RemoteOne. Ad data is kept by Google under its own policies.
8. Your rights and choices
You can remove paired devices in the app, clear all data by uninstalling it, and opt out of personalised ads in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:
- access the personal data I hold about you and get a copy in a portable format;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to (India).
To make a request, contact me. I will reply within 30 days and may need to confirm that the data is yours first. If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, in the EEA or UK, to your local data protection authority.
9. Security
Pairing credentials are stored encrypted on your device, and RemoteOne communicates only with devices on your local network. No system is completely secure, but if a breach affects your data I will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires.
10. Children
RemoteOne is not intended for anyone under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through RemoteOne, contact me and I will delete it.
11. Where your data is processed
I am based in India. The service providers named above may store or process data in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the EEA or UK, the transfer relies on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses in the provider’s terms.
12. Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes I will also let you know in RemoteOne before they take effect.
13. Contact
For questions about this policy, data requests or complaints, contact me by email. I built the app, so I will answer your message myself.
